I am definitely a big fan to both Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and sometimes I get some cravings to play it, and I’m not even at home. Well, if you’re like me, then you don’t have to worry about being near your PS3 or XBOX, because now you can fit the full entertainment and enjoyment in your pocket.Making it’s big debut at Toy Fair 2008 in New York, the Guitar Hero Carabiner takes thrashing to an entirely different level. Today’s technology is increasing rapidly, and at this point, I think it’s safe to say that we’re living in the future. And what kind of sucker in the future carries his own luggage when there are robot slaves to do it for him? Luckily, the Kita Kyushu airport in Japan is now offering RoboPorters to help travelers tote their baggage. As of right now, it just knows how to bring people to bus stops and taxi stands, so you can’t use it to get to your car, but it’s a hint at what’s to come in the even more distant and lazy future. Hooray!

The lovable Sesame Street monster is making yet another big hit. Elmo is on his way to being a full-fledged robot that will be even more difficult to find during this year’s holidays. The new Elmo Live, which Fisher-Price is announcing at Toy Fair 2008 this week, can mouth his words like a real-live Muppet, and can sit, stand and gesture as he tells stories, jokes, sings and play games. Of course, he is still his ticklish self, but the depth of interaction Elmo Live brings should surely bring the entertainment factor to whole new levels. Which is why this is potentially the best toy ever. Elmo Live should be out in October for about $60.

It looks like coffee technology could be about to take another leap forward, with Nestle researchers now announcing that they’ve devised a machine that can tell the difference between good coffee and bad coffee — espresso, in particular. Apparently, the machine has “nearly” the taste accuracy of a panel of trained espresso tasters, who, if this machine is any indication, may soon have to kiss their envious job goodbye (like so many others that have been forced to confront the cold hard reality of the machines taking over). While there’s apparently still quite a bit of work to be done on the coffee tasting machine, Nestle eventually sees it being used as a quality control device for the entire coffee industry.

Marlboro has reported that they are creating a new kind of cigarette, the Marlboro Intense. This cigarette will be approximately a centimeter shorter but will be packed with a kind of super tobacco that will contain all the nicotine of a regular cigarette. I’ve also heard that the paper is supposed to be faster burning, to further reduce smoking time. For you see, this cigarette was designed for quicker smoking breaks, which makes little sense to me. Even though I have never smoked, I always thought the smoking break was just as important the nicotine. I guess I’m wrong again. The product is currently being tested in Turkey, but I have my doubts about it coming here. Logically, I would assume people would get bored with the other three minutes of their life and just smoke another. Which leads me to wonder if it will pass health regulations, not that the government really cares much about these. Still, maybe the FDA will place some restrictions on these puppies. Not that I’m opposed to carcinogens or anything.
