How Much Ram Do You Really Need?

Are you in the market for a new computer, but whenever you look in the sale paper, you really only look at the price and completely disregard all the specs, because it looks like gibberish to you? Well, don’t worry about it, because The Tech Bros are here to help, and translate it into plain English. I’ve decided to start a new series, and take it word by word and explain what everything means and what you really need for your personal uses. To starts the series off, I’m obviously starting with discussing how much RAM you really need .

First of all, before you can figure out how much RAM is right for your needs, you must first know what it is. RAM is short for Random Access Memory, and it is basically how much memory your computer has. Many people get confused and think that this is how much storage space you have, which is wrong. You’re computer’s memory has nothing to do with storage space. That is a completely different piece of hardware that will be explained later on in the series. Read the rest of this entry »

Technology For Businesses

Because this is a Tech Blog, I like to reach many different demographics and cover a lot of different kinds of tech news. I know I haven’t posted too many articles on business solutions, but this one really makes it all worth the wait.

Does your company deal with bar codes or other different kinds of scanners to assist in tasks such as keeping track of inventory? How would you like to cut down the amount of time and money you spend and get the job done in an efficient way? Well, Elatec is a business solution company that deals with the production and distribution of RFID Components. RFID technology has advanced the whole process of scanning items by hand into having the ability to scan multiple items within a 20+ feet of the tag. (Distance depends on the frequency). RFID tags are small in both size and cost, making them ideal for replacing bar codes or even helping find you lost cat. All you have to do is apply the tag to your items, and the RFID Readers will store all your date about the object.

And while your over checking out Elatec’s businesses solutions, you should also check out their awesome Touch Screen Monitors. Never again waste time putting data in your system with and old fashioned keyboard and mouse. These monitors will definitely save you a lot of time and hassle when you need it most.

PC VS. MAC

So, this morning I got up and I was trying to think about what I was going to write about today. I figured I’d just go, turn on the computer, and it would come to me. And it did. I tried to get on the internet and for some reason my PC would not connect to my network. I checked my router and my modem, and everything was fine over their. So, I got frustrated with it, and decided to use my MacBook Pro. Of course everything worked fine the moment I turned it on. So I decided to write about the advantages and disadvantages about both Apple and Windows.

Let’s start with our examination on Windows. Windows is currently the most common operating system used by consumers, but Mac is definitely catching up. If you use Windows, you especially need to use caution when downloading things off the internet. Read the rest of this entry »

PSP Gets Involved In Upskirt Shenanigans

If sales figures aren’t enough reason to show that the PSP is really making some progress in Japan against the DS, how about the fact that it was used in an upskirt crime? According to the Japanese police, or JaPoPos, a 59-year-old college administrator was looking up a skirt belonging to a 19-year-old girl on a train line. He was arrested using anti-stalker laws, and if he’s convicted, it’ll probably lead to even better sales of the PSP and the PSP camera peripheral in Japan. [NikkanSports via Livedoor via Kotaku]

Eliminate Spyware #3: Back-Up And Restore

There are many users out there that will not pay attention to your warnings and download that weather update system full of infectious Spyware. Or maybe you already have Spyware infecting your computer, and have no idea how to get rid of it. The secret is to start fresh. One thing that you must remember is that it is crucial to back-up and restore everything on your computer in case something gets infected. This is the only sure-fire way to completely eliminate Spyware from your already infected computer.

Every time you go to download anything from a site that is not a brand-name portal, you should back up all the files on your computer. For instance, every time that I install a new plugin or a new script for The Tech Bros, I always back-up every single one of my files first. This way, if something does go wrong I can easily re-upload all my original files, and the site will be good as new again. The same goes for your computer. If you back-up your hard drive before you download something, it will save you a lot of time and heartache. This is one of the most effective ways to alleviate the sting from Spyware.

Eliminate Spyware #2: Stop The Downloads!

Do you have teens in your house that download every single offer that pops up on their computer? Or maybe you have some family members that just can’t resist the word “Free”? Well the old saying, “Nothing is free”, proves itself once again. You might not be paying money for it now, but in the end you’ll surely pay the price with annoying pop ups, spam email, and hours of your time trying to bring your computer back from it’s “Zombie” state.

You also need to know that every time  you download one of these software programs, you are incouraging people to create more Spyware, because someone’s getting a paycheck for it. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 10 Ways To Eliminate Spyware!

Sometimes the truth hurts, but here it is anyway: You will struggle with spyware at work, home, and on family and friends’ computers for the next several years. Spam will be choked down to a manageable stream this year, but spyware will fill the gap, costing you precious hours cleaning the infected (and re-infected) computers of your friends and family.

My home office lab is the spyware front line. I routinely download programs for testing, then run a combination of pop-up blockers, spam protectors, Registry rooters and cookie cleaners. I’ll quarantine 635 Registry spyware droppings one day, delete 31 spyware cookies the next and start all over again the next week. I’ve tested dozens of new utilities and dutifully download the latest version of each. So don’t waste any more time searching for the best solution to the problem, because we are going to tell you the top 10 best ways to eliminate spyware.

Libya Comes Through for Kids

You may recall Libya’s initial pledge to purchase 1.2 million low-cost lappies from OLPC, but some 12 months later, it looks like the nation’s education ministry has given its business (for realz this time) to Intel and Microsoft. Reportedly, the country placed an order in August for 150,000 Classmate PCs, and deployment has just recently begun. Intel spokeswoman Agnes Kwan noted that Intel and Microsoft were “not subsidizing the price of the laptops,” but she failed to mention exactly how much the Libyan education ministry was forking out for the machines. Furthermore, Kwan stated that Nigeria was also on board and should be placing an order of its own soon, but considering how sketchy these commitments have been in the past, we wouldn’t hold our breath just yet.
