Turning Invisible Will Soon Be Possible

Have you ever wanted to have the ability to turn invisible whenever you wanted? In science fiction this is possible but it might become a reality someday soon. While this technology seems far-fetched it is seemingly not impossible to do according to various scientists. Scientist teams from around the globe are having promising results. This research could very well make things invisible in the near future. While it is currently unclear whether large objects such as cars will be able to become invisible, all scientists working on this phenomenon agree that dust particles and other small objects will be able to be turned invisible.

A mathematician at the University of Utah, Graeme Milton, says that theoretically the only thing that is needed to turn something invisible is something called a superlens. John Pendry, a Physicist, first proposed a superlens in 2000 at Imperial College London.

Light that hits a superlens reverses and goes in the opposite direction. This causes light that bounces off of the object to cancel out with the light bouncing off the superlens. This is caused because a superlens has a negative refractive index. At a certain distance this causes the object to appear invisible. It is similar to noise cancellation in earphones.

Milton says that this only works in numbers currently. There is however a theoretical that shows that particle collections become invisible. He also says Read the rest of this entry »

This Science Blog Is Out Of This World!

There are many different blogs out on the internet today about many different things. You can do a Google search, and read about anything yo want in just minutes. Because of so much information out on the net, webmasters have to make their site unique, and make it stand out from all the rest if they want readers to come back to their site.

During some surfing, I have found a nicely designed, unique Science Blog called Random Science. Random Science talks about a lot of interesting facts, and has nice in depth explanations. I really like the way it goes about getting the community involved. After all, one of the most important aspects of a blog is the community. Aside from their normal posts, they also put up Trivia questions, with a couple clues to help you guess he correct answer. At the bottom of the page, they display the correct answer along with and explanation of why it is correct. So go head on over to www.randomscience.com and test your skills to see just how Science savvy yyou really are.
