Eliminate Spyware #2: Stop The Downloads!

Do you have teens in your house that download every single offer that pops up on their computer? Or maybe you have some family members that just can’t resist the word “Free”? Well the old saying, “Nothing is free”, proves itself once again. You might not be paying money for it now, but in the end you’ll surely pay the price with annoying pop ups, spam email, and hours of your time trying to bring your computer back from it’s “Zombie” state.

You also need to know that every time  you download one of these software programs, you are incouraging people to create more Spyware, because someone’s getting a paycheck for it. I know from experience. I used to belong to an affiliate site called Zango Cash, where they paid affiliates for every time someone downloaded the Spyware from your site. Well, long story short I had it on my arcade site and decided to remove it because, ethically, I felt it was wrong for users to have to suffer just so that they can access my site.

Now, understand that not every download on the Internet is Spyware. There are some really great downloads, and really great download sites. For instance, one that I use is www.download.com AKA www.cnet.com. This is just one of the many sites that offer free downloads that don’t contain Spyware. If you have any questions whether or not download a site is clean, please feel free to use our contact form and ask us.

One thing that you must know is that Spyware purveyors are very intelligent, and they do their job well, when they’re trying to trick innocent victims into downloading Spyware. The most important thing is education, and that’s why I’m writing this 10 step guide to eliminate Spyware. This education should not stop with you. Tell your friends, family, and even co-workers about the dangers of Spyware and to be on the look out for something that is too good to be true. One of the most common, yet most effective Spyware downloads, is a banner that pops up and offers to remove you Spyware for free. So many people fall for it, because they think that if they don’t download it, their computer will crash. In this case, it’s the complete opposite. Just remember that if it’s too good to be true, then it probably is. Come back tomorrow for step 3.
